Undergraduates

Undergraduates working towards a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields are welcome to contact Prof. Buller about opportunities to learn about research. If you’re not sure and just want to learn more about the field, I am happy to arrange a 1-on-1 chat.

Masters

The Buller group will have Masters projects available every year for students enrolled in the Chemistry program at the University of Manchester.

We are also happy to consider hosting students who have a fellowship that enables performance of a Master’s thesis outside of your home institute. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Buller with the subject line, ‘Prospective Masters Student’ with a copy of your CV, a description of your research interests, and any relevant logistical information about how we can help support your Master’s project.

PhD

The Buller lab participates in several annual PhD fellowship programmes. An up-to-date list can be found on the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology website:
https://www.mib.manchester.ac.uk/join/study/doctoral-training/

Each year, the group submits projects to multiple programmes, but will only have fellowships available from a subset. We may also have opportunities that stem from university-wide competitions. In all cases, these fully funded PhD opportunities will be posted on findaphd.com. Most programmes will have a limited number of spots available for international researchers, although we cannot guarantee in advance.

If you are from outside the UK and your government supports international PhD fellowships, please make inquiries in your home nation and contact Prof. Buller about potential sponsorship of a research project.

If you are interested in translating biocatalysis into industry, there may be a new programme tailored to your interests: https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-research/funding/phd-by-enterprise/

Postdoctoral Fellows

There are no open postdoctoral fellowship positions available at this time. However, we would be happy to work with you to write a competitive proposal for research in our group, for example as a Marie-Curie Fellowship or the various national fellowships for which you may be eligible.

If you are interested in joining our lab, contact Andrew Buller at andrew.buller@manchester.ac.uk
